Setting Gaming Boundaries Doesn’t Mean “Never” is the Answer

If your girl is one of the millions of Gen Zers who love video games, your family already navigates the “tension of too much” daily. Playing video games, or gaming in general, requires discernment and self-control—like all enjoyable things.

1 Thessalonians 5:6 warns Godly girls to be of a sharp mind, not lulled into temporal things that the world loves. So how do you apply this in your family?

Avoid the instinct to say “no video games ever!” because that won’t teach your girl to self-evaluate and lean on the Holy Spirit’s guidance. Talk with her about the amount of time spent gaming. Discuss the safety issues surrounding online gaming platforms. And it’s even okay to sit next to her in a fun game of Mario Kart from time to time!
