Our world has a disease of “more”. More money, more tech, more stuff. While it’s incredibly ambitious to desire more out of our lives, for some, pursuing ‘more’ can become a dangerous trap.
There’s one simple cure for the “disease of more”–gratitude. Gratitude allows space for reflection and pause in the hustle. It allows our bodies and minds to rest in the comfort of the present. Gratitude is the anecdote for culture’s call for “more”.
If your daughter is pining after the newest technology or expresses the sudden desire to completely renovate her bedroom again after seeing a new trend on Pinterest, challenge her to instead find 10 reasons she’s grateful for the device or the room she has today. Chances are, she’ll come to realize she really doesn’t need more.
