Have you ever taken an exercise class where the instructor knows and encourages you by name? Perhaps in a moment of strength she recognizes your ability, or better yet, in a moment when you’re ready to give up, she empowers you to push further. Hearing your name is a powerful motivator in times of difficulty! 

Scripture tells us that God calls us each by name—that we are His and He has redeemed us. What an incredible gift knowing that God is calling our names!  

But we know, of course, that we don’t all actually hear God’s voice. Our prayer life is individual to each of us—talk with your girl about ways she can listen for God. Journaling and reading Scripture are great places to start.
