Those “Humble Pie” Moments can Lead Her to Repentance

Have you been witness to a child’s prideful boast only to be quickly followed by eating a slice of humble pie? As a parent or mentor, it’s hard to watch your girl foolishly declare herself an expert on a topic, use Scripture wrongly, or preemptively bound onto stage to accept an award announced for someone else. While socially painful, these are key learning moments for her.

A well-known pastor once cautioned that pride is a sinister, stubborn, and strong enemy to the heart. So “whenever weakness can crush our pride, we ought to receive it gratefully as a gift from God.”

Be the gentle voice she can bounce back to when pride-falls knock her down a few rungs on the ladder—a voice who will walk her through repentance and joyfully receive a renewed mind each step forward.
