Teaching Your Girl to Honor Her Flag and Her Community

As citizens of the United States of America, we enjoy many freedoms. The freedom of speech, of religion, of expression—we have much to celebrate as Americans. Each year in June, we as a nation collectively celebrate Flag Day. It’s a day to honor the history of our flag, and our nation. The American flag represents freedom and justice for all.

While being an honorable citizen of this nation is admirable, we as Christians are ultimately citizens of heaven. This Flag Day, consider how you and your daughter might honor the stars and stripes and God by serving her fellow neighbor—bring patriotic cookies to a food bank, donate three pairs of shoes, one red, one white, and one blue, to your local women’s shelter, or gift a new flag to a veteran in your neighborhood!
