Teaching Her to be a Good Sport is a Heart Issue

Your daughter’s opponent does a great job in the game. How does your girl react when she’s not the winner? Coming out the loser in a competition holds weight as a life lesson moment. She can sulk wishing the glory were hers, or she can reflect Christ’s light and build up another.

Adolescence offers many opportunities for girls to learn how to respond in a Christ-like way—win or lose. Teach her to joyfully celebrate when others do well.

Romans 12:15 challenges us to “rejoice with those who rejoice”, so guide your girl to build up her friends—or enemies—when they perform well and rightly come out on top. Ultimately, God will shine brightly through her example in those moments.
