Does your independent girl like to do things her own way? Tweaking a banana bread recipe or designing a new font could be advantages to her pioneer spirit! But does she tend to push against the basics of God’s commands or your guiding parental authority? 

In Exodus 20, God commanded His people should have “no other gods before me.” There’s a reason that this is the FIRST Commandment of the Ten! Historically God’s people have strayed and subsequently suffered drastic consequences for doing things “their own way”. 

So how do you point your girl to trust God’s ability to—well, BE GOD? Show her both His Faithfulness in the Bible and His Faithfulness in your family’s life. Then she’ll connect to His Faithfulness in her own life.
