Family Heritage and the Importance of a Father’s Legacy

Long before the written record of history, families would gather to pass on their heritage through spoken stories. Not only did the younger generations learn about their family, the cross-generational bonds formed deeply, strengthening those family groups.

This Father’s Day, ask a dad or grandfather to recall a story or two from the family heritage. Even better, sing old songs—even silly tunes—to share laughter together. Even if the stories aren’t the prettiest, it’s important to share the past roads of the family—bumps and broken places included.

God the Father’s heart came through to the Israelites by recounting their past through stories, especially as they ventured into new territory and seasons. Just as He reminded them often, convey God’s place in your family’s story!
