Could the Barrage of Tech-Talk be Drowning the Holy Spirit’s Voice?

Smartphones and related technology have made daily communication an increasingly noisy process. Six billion text messages are sent every day. That’s six billion ongoing conversations happening simultaneously. With all that talking, how are we doing with listening as a culture? The short answer is: not good. But God listens, so, as Christians, shouldn’t we also?

In the Old Testament, often God’s voice comes as a still, small voice. If our families are so entrenched in today’s communication culture fraught with noisy layers how will our girls be tuned to the quiet voice of the Holy Spirit?

Take hold of your family’s communication. When possible, choose face-to-face conversations and avoid rushing the process. Also model this in family prayer time, giving time in silent listening for the Holy Spirit to speak to your children’s hearts.
