Why the Clever “Believe in Yourself” Can Deceive Your Girl’s Heart

“Self Efficacy” is a term used by psychologists to describe the feeling of “believing in yourself”. Its affect is more powerful than you might think. Researchers found that just by recalling times where you’ve been successful in the past actually creates muscle memory that sets your mind up to be more resilient in the future. Recalling self-confidence in the past sets you up for future success.

Confidence in your own ability is foundational in creating a successful future outcome, but is it everything? Of course not! The greatest lesson we can give our girls is that they are capable because God is able. By recognizing God’s presence in her life, your girl can begin to “lean not on her own understanding”, but on the power He has given her to do great things.
