Encouraging Your Girl to Overcome Negative Thoughts

According to a study conducted by the National Science Foundation, the average person has about 12,000 to 60,000 thoughts per day. Of those thousands of thoughts, 80% were negative, and 95% were exactly the same repetitive thoughts as the day before.

Young girls’ minds are breeding grounds for negative thoughts. From body image to fears of inadequacy, girls play out these negative thoughts in a constant repetitive cycle. It’s time to break the cycle of negativity.

Encourage your girl to recognize her negative thoughts, and perhaps even capture a day’s worth in a journal. Then, find a new perspective on that negativity—for example, what did she learn from that negative experience? Seeking out the positive is like looking for God, He’s always there, ready for us to find Him.
